“Learning what Utah has in store for me being a new student here at BYU. Being from Hawaii, there’s a lot of things you can’t do in Utah. So I’m excited to see what Provo and Utah have in store for me.” — Jeremiah Thee, information yechnology, Laie, Hawaii.
“I’m going on a mission to the Philippines, San Pablo. I leave in August so I’m really excited about that.” — Audrey Buckley, microbiology, Seattle, Wash.
“Actually just getting to know my way around campus. I just moved here two weeks ago, so getting to know the ROTC program and getting to know the students.” — Steve LaRocque, teaching ROTC, Fort Collins, Colo.
“I PR’d (personal record) at my 5k race time. I’m faster than I was in high school, so that’s exciting.” — Rachael Flansburg, biochemistry, Logan.
“I went to Oxford on a study abroad for a business seminar. It was cool. It was a lot of fun. Just traveled around a lot.” — Michael Devonas, biochemistry, Provo.
“Heading to Carlsbad/ Oceanside, Calif., with the family. Finally taking a break from med school applications; I’ll be finished with summer semester, head down there and party with the fam.” — Michael Peterson, exercise science, Salt Lake City.
“I’m going to Moab in two weeks, just doing rafting and biking and stuff like that.” — Alex Lew, physiology, Hong Kong.
“My most exciting plan for the summer is to move down to Arizona and go to dental school. … I leave July 29, and school starts Aug. 20.” — Brian Pearce, business and Russian, Show Low, Ariz.
“For the summer I’m going to be taking classes here, and in my time that I’m not taking classes, I’m going down to Southern Utah (Blanding) to do some genealogy research on my family.” — Charlie Palfreyman, civil engineering, Orem. Summer is a time for fun, even for students still working hard on campus. These students find different things to do to enjoy their summer in their own unique way.
