Anti-Human Trafficking Club to present “Slavery By Another Name”

slaveThe Anti-Human Trafficking Club will hold a screening of the documentary “Slavery By Another Name” Feb. 11 at 5 p.mm in room 250 of the Spencer W. Kimball Tower.

The Anti-human Trafficking Club’s Scheduling Representative Garret Nagaishi said that the purpose of the documentary is ask the question of whether or not slavery has really ended with the Emancipation Proclamation.

Dr Matt Mason will give an introduction of the film before the screening.

“The reason Dr Mason is lecturing is that we believe that slavery is still a problem in a number of ways,” Nagaishi said. “The illegalization of slavery does not end slavery in actuality.

The documentary is based off of Douglas A. Blackmon’s book which goes by the same name.
