Provo’s diverse offering of food options has expanded even more with the opening of a new candy store.
Pop’nSweets Candy and Soda Parlor, which recently opened on Sept. 6, offers more than 300 different sodas and more than 400 different types of candy. Sodas are imported from all over the world, including countries like Australia, France and Japan. Candies are also imported from Asia, England, Austria, Italy and many other foreign countries.
“Having served my mission in South America, I’m excited to buy things I haven’t tasted in a long time,” said Matthew Pedersen, a BYU finance student. “It will bring back a lot of memories of my time in Uruguay.”
Chris Wilms and his wife Samantha own the shop, and are also full-time students at BYU.
“We try to get as many different kinds of soda and candy as possible, and always look into having stuff nobody else can offer,” Chris Wilms said.
Jason Longhurst, a BYU student and soda connoisseur, was excited to try all of the different options the shop offers.
“I heard there are more than 50 types of root beers, 30 kinds of ginger beers and more than 30 types of cream sodas,” Longhurt said. “That’s insane!”
Pop’nSweets also offers BYU Creamery ice cream and different kinds of draft sodas. The shop is located at 42 East 1230 North, next door to Einstein Bros Bagels. It is open from 10 a.m. to midnight Monday–Saturday, and until 2 a.m. on Friday nights.
