Utah musicians will have a chance to work with Nashville-based music producers Bobby Rymer and Chris Oglesby at an all-star open mic night and a workshop Sept. 20 and 21 at Refinement Records in Draper.

“Both of these experts have had enormous success in their personal careers as well as being associated with and developing some of the biggest names in the music industry. They are looking for talent, and this master class could be a door-opener for Utah musicians,” said Adam Reader, president of Refinement Records.

Rymer and Oglesby will judge an open mic night (or open mic “fight”) from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 20 with the winner receiving a $250 cash prize.

A “master class” workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 21, where Rymer and Oglesby have agreed to critique 20 original songs. They will also hold private sessions with four artists with the intent of pitching the best songs to artists, films and TV shows in Nashville, according to a Refinement Records press release.

Refinement Records’ address is 12244 South Business Park Drive, Suite 270, in Draper. Tickets for the open mic night are $10 and can be purchased at the door or at refinementrecords.com/openmicfight.

The workshop will cost $65 for pre-registration or $75 at the door. Those who wish to participate can register by visiting refinementrecords.com/publishingmasterclass or by calling 801.890.1480.
