Letter: Honesty and parking

94

Non-student employees at BYU struggle to find parking places. Too often, we have to add 20-30 minutes to our drive time as we cruise around looking for parking places in the A lots we are assigned.

This has caused us to be late to work and to lose pay.

In doing so, we see student after student, with their backpacks, leaving their cars in the A lots and going to their classes.

In contacting the University Police Parking Department, they stated: “families with more than one vehicle registered at BYU may park 1 vehicle in the A lot and 1 vehicle in the Y lot. They may not park 2 vehicles in an A lot. We encourage reporting of those who violate this policy.”

We believe parking involves honesty. Convenience is enjoyed at a high price for some students who have family members working at BYU and choose to disregard the parking policy.
