Letter: Who wears short shorts?

122

We have been relieved with the wave of recent cold weather because it means we have not had to see any men’s thighs exposed.

This has been a particular problem among freshman boys, especially in Helaman Halls.

We have noticed too often several freshman boys who wear rolled-up shorts that fall inches above their knees.

In the Honor Code it states neither women nor men may wear shorts that go above their knee, except for exercise apparel.

Several times women have been turned away from the Cannon Center for wearing shorts above their knees, but men have never been turned away.

It is frustrating to face the inequality with the enforcement of the Honor Code.

It seems like this hasn’t been much of an issue before, but this year in particular — as styles have shifted to shorter shorts for men — this needs to be addressed.

We feel as if the Honor Code needs to be enforced more strongly than before, for both men and women.

It is our hope you take our request into consideration as this issue continues to disturb the uplifting atmosphere at Brigham Young University.
