Salt Lake City was featured on Jan. 7’s episode of “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart for its revolutionary way of addressing the homeless problem: giving homeless people homes.
The Utah capitol put the Homeless Services Strategy in action in July 2014 by working with homeless resource centers to provide homes for the individuals most in need of a place to stay. Salt Lake City has also implemented programs to give struggling families and individuals access to more resources and involvement opportunities in the community. Caseworkers were also assigned to various individuals to help them find employment.
“Daily Show” correspondent Hassan Minaj traveled to Salt Lake City to discover the outcome of this surprising and bemusing strategy.
