Marvel Comics will honor New York Times best-selling author Roger Stern with a hardcover collection of his best Spider-Man stories.

Stern is considered to be the third-best writer of the Spider-Man series, after creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, according to a recent poll conducted to determine the superhero’s top ten writers.

“This is all incredibly flattering,” Stern said in a press release. “I never imagined that Marvel would collect four years of my Spider-Man stories under one cover.”

The collection, titled “Spider-Man by Roger Stern Omnibus,” will be available in specialty comic book stores beginning Mar. 26 and on-line in April. It will retail for $125, with many booksellers offering discounts for pre-orders.

Stern and his artist, John Romita Jr., are best known for creating the villain Hobgoblin and are credited for reinventing the “Amazing Spider-Man” series.  He has also written stories for heroes including Captain America, Iron Man and the Justice League.
