Letter: The Heaps bandwagon

85

BYU has to face yet another change at quarterback with Riley Nelson out and Jake Heaps making a return to the starting position.

This time, BYU, let’s not hop on the bandwagon.

BYU struggled early last year but finished solid winning six of their last eight games.

This left Cougar fans everywhere wanting more.

What we wanted was a leader, a star, another Jimmer.

BYU fans were anxious when Heaps started to show some potential as that star.

That anxiety was premature and led fans to get into their minds Heaps was the savior of BYU football, all before he had thrown a pass in a game this season.

He wasted no time in showing that he was not the guy we thought he was.

He struggled to throw the ball accurately, lacked leadership and poise on the field and was a wimp in the pocket.

He certainly did not live up to the hype we created for him and when he didn’t, fans called for a change.

Now we are faced with another change, another chance for Heaps to step up and take the lead.

But, BYU fans, before you hop on the Heaps bandwagon again, try waiting until he shows us something to cheer about.
