Letter: Lefties need desks

87

As a left-handed student at BYU, I am grateful for the people who built the buildings and put left-handed desks in most of the classrooms.

It is very nice having a resting place for my arm while I take notes instead of trying to keep my hand balanced on a right-handed desk.

Unfortunately, due to less left-handed people, there are less left-handed desks, generally situated on the left side of the classroom.

What is irritating is when right-handed people, or those with laptops, are sitting in the left-handed desks.

My plea for all those who do this is to please move.

If your motive to sit on the left side is for an outlet for your laptop, my suggestion is to go on the right side — there are outlets over there too.

If you want to get out of the class early, that is fine. Just sit in the next desk over and leave the left-handed desk open for the left-handed kids in your class.

I understand there are left-handed students who really don’t care, but for those of us who do, you will be doing us a big favor.
