Letter: Self-interest & patriotism

99

To my tea-sipping friend, I would invite you to attend several business classes and American Heritage here on campus if you haven’t already.

Here are a few things I’ve learned from those classes:

First, businesses can’t control their revenue, only their expenses.

Second, the right to have firearms was created because the oppressive, tax happy government at the time was trying to restrict them.

Third, people and businesses do things out of self-interest.

Saying businesses aren’t patriotic if they outsource jobs is like saying someone doesn’t have school spirit or support the church if they don’t buy their books from the Bookstore.

It is in my self-interest to get the best books at the lowest price. Businesses are doing the same thing, but with jobs.

I’m not happy with how things are, but being extreme never really gets anyone anywhere.
