Cougar Connection: Kamailelani Grace

Kamailelani Grace is a sophomore at BYU from Mililani, Oahu Hawaii. She loves Polynesian dancing and has been doing it since she was young. She works for Multicultural Student Services and just returned home from a mission in Independence, Missouri.

Staff Spotlight: Jim Hamblin

Meet Jim Hamblin, the student athlete senior academic advisor. Jim Hamblin has been at BYU for 19 years and oversees football and men’s and women’s golf. He has been working with BYU athletics since he graduated, from baseball to women’s golf Jim continues to advise the athletes.

Professor John Chaston studies how animals evolve by looking at the gut microbes of fruit flies and their effects on evolutionary development. Chaston and his students have a little fun with their passion for fruit flies at their annual Secret Santa event.

Meet Allison Long, a yoga enthusiast who started her fixation in high school for better mental and physical health. She is applying both new and previously learned yoga principles to her new life here at BYU.

Faculty Friday: Lynne Nielsen

Meet statistics professor Lynne Nielsen! Before coming to BYU, Nielsen worked with the Philippines government to bring electricity to rural areas of the country. Most recently she published the book, "The First Political Order: How Sex Shapes Governance and National Security Worldwide" with fellow professors Valerie M. Hudson and Donna Lee Bowen. Featured on The Economist, the book explores how the treatment of women shapes a country.
