The LDS Church announced preliminary plans to expand the MTC on Monday, April, 28.
The new buildings will be six stories high, and the landscaping will be improved to create a “buffer” between the MTC and the neighborhood. Buildings will have additional learning classrooms and underground parking. According to the press release, the expansion will not include living areas, but existing residence halls will be remodeled to increase capacity.
The expansion will increase the training capacity of the MTC from 3,000 to 4,500. Construction on new buildings is set to begin summer 2015.
