Based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire, “Wicked,” the untold story of the witches of Oz, has returned to Utah for its second run after breaking box office records in 2009. The musical has won 35 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, and it has not failed to impress Utah crowds. The theater was packed Thursday in a sold-out show with Utahns of all ages.
J.D. Hucks, an administrator for Especially for Youth Programs on BYU campus, decided to take his entire family to the musical. He said his younger boys even liked the performance.
“I didn’t really know what to expect,” Hucks said. “I’m not really a theater-goer, but I was really impressed. I would definitely go see it again.”
Nicole Parker, an actress from Irvine, Calif., played the lead role of Elphaba and was a spectacular performer who brought enthusiasm and intensity to the stage. Alli Mauzey, an actress from Anaheim Hills, Calif., played a main role as Glinda and provided comic relief and lightheartedness to the show.

“Their voices were incredible and the acting was great,” he said. “You don’t know what good acting is until you see it.”
The writers, cast and crew of “Wicked” provided an experience the audience won’t soon forget.
Tickets are currently on sale and the show will run until August 26.
