My off-court highlight Saturday was visiting with St. Mary’s fans who had travelled to Utah for the game. “I can’t believe I am here,” one said. The St. Mary’s fans were nothing but complimentary about their Utah experience. They were almost apologetic about St. Mary’s arena and lack of basketball tradition.
My off-court low point was visiting with the same St. Mary’s fans who could not believe the poor sportsmanship they had seen in the Marriott Center. I told them Cougars aren’t always such poor sports, but they mentioned they had seen things thrown in an earlier WCC televised game, although those didn’t hit the court.
It’s embarrassing to have our fans out-classed Saturday night by our new WCC opponents.
