General Conference (Priesthood session): President Thomas S. Monson

111

President Thomas S. Monson said the standards of the world and the standards of the church, though once very similar, are becoming more and more distinct.

He said moral values do not change, nor are they up to the individual, but have been clearly taught by God.

“Brethren, none within the sound of my voice should be in any doubt concerning what is moral and what is not,” President Monson said. “We have been and continue to be taught God’s laws. Despite what you may see or hear elsewhere, these laws are unchanging.”

President Monson said there will come many times in our lives when our faith will be challenged. In those moments, it will be up to us to stand firm.

“May we ever be courageous and prepared to stand for what we believe,” he said, “… and if we must stand alone in the process, may we do so courageously, strengthened by the knowledge that in reality we are never alone when we stand with our Father in Heaven.”
