General Conference (Priesthood session): President Henry B. Eyring

President Henry B. Eyring said every priesthood holder must be prepared to serve at all times.

He said priesthood preparation began before we were born and will continue throughout our lives.

“… our Heavenly Father has been preparing us since we were taught at His knee in His kingdom before we were born,” President Eyring said.

The weak and simple things, he said, may appear to be defects, but the Lord will turn them into strengths.

He spoke of a former bishop who taught him the importance of preparation.

“He told me I needed to study more and to learn more,” President Eyring said. “He saw that I was weak and simple enough to be teachable.”

For President Eyring, President Spencer W. Kimball was another important example of being prepared .

“President Kimball had since his childhood pushed himself beyond his limits of endurance to serve and to love the Lord,” President Eyring said. “It was a habit so ingrained that it was there when he needed it. He was prepared.”
