Many Provo residents regard going out to eat as a staple social activity. Going out to eat offers the opportunity to consume something other than Top Ramen, to talk to friends rather than have your head in a book and, most importantly, to get out of your apartment.

Although the surrounding community offers an abundance of both fast food and other sit-down restaurants, BYU students need look no further than their own campus for a variety of reasonably-priced eateries.

Whether you want to feast all-you-can-eat style or dine in sophisticated fashion, BYU’s campus offers convenient spots for eating – either in between classes or on a Friday night date.

    The Cannon Center, 422-4031

A new Cannon Center is under construction, but in the meantime the original dorm meal center provides meals seven days a week, unlimited in quantity and generous in options. The cafeteria is located in Helaman Halls and typically offers a menu of four entrees, ranging from chicken cordon bleu to smothered beef burritos. Several healthy options with the salad and fruit bars, are available at every meal.

    CougarEat

This food court is located conveniently in the center of the Wilkinson Student Center. Students can stop in for a quick snack or satisfying lunch in between classes with the 10 featured restaurants. The CougarEat caters to all food tastes, with their variety of food styles that range from Japanese at Teriyaki Stix to classic American barbeque at the Scoreboard Grill.

    The BYU Creamery, 422-2581

With locations on 900 East, Wyview and Wymount apartments, and at the former Deseret Towers housing, the Creamery is the perfect place to meet up with friends to chat and satisfy your sweet tooth. The Ninth Street Grill, found exclusively at the Creamery on Ninth, offers hot sandwiches, burgers, soups and salads, while all of the locations provide BYU’s unique ice cream flavors like Graham Canyon and LaVell Edwards Crunch.

    Jamba Juice, 422-2571

Jamba Juice in the WSC offers a variety of refreshing and filling smoothies. Flavors range from Banana Berry to Peanut Butter Mood and include a free “boost” of energy or “cold busting” ingredients. For a calorie-reduced smoothie, Jamba Juice also offers “enlightened” and all-fruit smoothies.

    Legends Grille, 422-2561

For a higher quality, healthier meal, visit Legends Grille across from the Smith Fieldhouse on the west end of campus. This sport-themed restaurant specializes in providing custom salads, sandwiches and hearth-baked pizzas, along with nutritious side dishes of fresh fruit and vegetables. Meals can be enjoyed while watching sporting events broadcast on the restaurant’s multiple flat-screen televisions.

    Marketplace Caf?, 422-0636

Tucked in the center of the Tanner Building, this caf? possesses a classy, outdoor atmosphere with its scenic vegetation and calming fountains. Panini sandwiches – an Italian-style sandwich made on a special grill – come in vegetarian, cheese and meat styles. Gourmet salads, quesadillas and other specials, such as chicken alfredo and chicken marinara, can also be purchased for around $5 or less.

    Museum of Art Caf?, 422-8217

This restaurant features a lunch menu for the sophisticated palate, with items such as Red Thai Curry Chicken, Greek salad, Wasabi Beef and Vegetable Focaccia sandwiches. The caf? is the only place on campus to offer Italian sodas and sipping chocolate, as well as a variety of desserts. It is located on the top floor of the Museum of Art and does not take reservations, so those wishing to dine should get there early.

    Orville and Wilbur’s, 422-4370

This game center joint is perfect for grabbing a bite to eat while bowling or playing arcade games. Tangy buffalo wings, burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, nachos and fries comprise Orville and Wilbur’s snack food menu.

    Tomassito’s, 422-2555

For a cool college hang-out spot or fast, direct delivery, Tomassito’s is the place for pizza. Their free delivery service covers any place on campus, making it easy to get a filling meal whether you are in your dorm room or buried in books at the Joseph Smith Building. Every Wednesday, students can get the featured pizza for $5 for “Wacky Wednesday.” Tomassito’s offers more than the typical cheese and pepperoni pizzas, with their Kickin’ Buffalo Chicken or chicken alfredo pizzas. Extra hungry customers can enjoy a side of flavorful parmesan garlic breadsticks and a dessert of cinnamon breadsticks dipped in frosting.

The grill menu includes turkey pitas, chicken quesadillas, Cosmo Burgers and popcorn chicken.
