Holding flaming torches under the blazing sun Wednesday, April 12, 2006, this year’s newly elected BYUSA presidency took the oath of office on the 13th floor roof of the Kimball tower. Forty-three people were in attendance.

Raising his arm to the square, Chris Giovarelli gave the oath to serve as next year’s student body president.

In the oath the president promises to encourage the spirit of the Y, help others to come unto Christ, and help students live the standards of the church.

“We must continue the legacy we’ve been left and remember we are creating a legacy,” Giovarelli said.

This year will be the 18th year of BYUSA’s organization from the original ASBYU student government.

“Today has been a wonderful opportunity for officers to share their love for student life and giving back to the University,” said Jared Chapman, assistant director of student leadership.
