Eight BYU students will sit on the front row of this Saturday?s football game by participating in the quarterback challenge or by entering the Cougar United Raffle. Before the game, students will have the chance to talk to players and get autographs at a free, 7:30 p.m. showing of ?Remember the Titans? at the Varsity Theatre.
?I have my ticket,? said Amanda Beverley, a junior from Preston, England, majoring in theater arts. ?Football players and a free movie, what else could a girl ask for??
Free tickets for Thursday?s movie are available on a first come, first serve basis at the Wilkinson Center information desk. The quarterback challenge will take place in Brigham Square from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday. Any student can enter the raffle, which will be at the Cougar United booth in Brigham Square. The winner will be announced on Friday at the Cougar United Booth.
Welcome Week continues to celebrate the beginning of the semester by showcasing the football team just in time for this Saturday?s game against Boston College. Campus Life Events Management is responsible for the organization and tickets will be provided by the Daily Universe.
?Football players want to be more involved in student activities and be apart of what?s going on,? said Ron Jones, events management team advisor. ?They want to present who they are and answer questions.?
Football players expected to attend include defensive back David Tafuna, linebacker Sosiua Sekona, defensive back Kayle Buchanan and defensive back Dustin Gabriel. The football team hopes to get up close with the students and the community by being more accessible, Jones said.
?The purpose of having the players at the movie is so they can get acquainted with students on a student-to-student basis,? Jones said.
