Church members must journey through life one step at a time, according to the Saturday afternoon conference address by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin.

To climb to a higher spirituality, he said, individuals must begin from where he is and progress step by step.

“That is easy enough. We don”t have to be perfect today,” Elder Wirthlin said. “We just need to be the best we can.”

Heavenly Father understands his children are not perfect and will stumble, he said.

God also does not require individuals to make the journey to perfection faster than he or she has the strength to, he said.

Elder Wirthlin counseled against competing or comparing oneself with others.

This often brings discouragement. Instead, we must remember our blessings and continue progressing.

“You will be happy and content if you only do your best,” Elder Wirthlin said.
