Individuals must take the time to apply gospel principles to their lives, according Elder Walter F. Gonz?lez, of the Quorum of the Seventy.

Gospel principles must be transferred from tablets of stone – the scriptures – to the fleshy tablets of ones heart, he said.

“Maintaining the gospel in our hearts is an ongoing task, which takes time,” he said.

To make this transfer, church members must change their lives to be in accordance with the truths learned as they read the scriptures, Elder Gonz?lez said.

“If we do so, the Lord has promised we will have an increased understanding of his truths,” he said.

Changing individual lives according to gospel principles is a continual process, he said.

“Making time in our lives to learn, to ponder and especially to practice gospel principles will bring us the joy and peace which comes from the Spirit,” Elder Gonz?lez said.
