Elder Jeffery R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles encouraged church members to be involved in missionary work at the Saturday morning session of General Conference.

“No mission or missionaries can ultimately succeed without the loving participation and spiritual support of the local members working with them in a balanced effort,” he said.

Elder Holland said living righteously is a good start for member missionary work.

“Surely there is no more powerful missionary message we can send to the world than the example of a loving and happy Latter-day Saint life,” he said.

He said members can pray for missionaries and their investigators.

Members should show genuine interest for those interested in the gospel and pray for their own missionary experiences, Elder Holland said.

“Be genuine,” he said. “Reach out sincerely. Ask those friends what matters most to them, what they cherish and what they hold dear.”
