Faculty members and BYU employees were among those who attended Tuesday’s funeral service for Carol Hardman, former associate director of the Research and Creative Activities department.

Hardman had been with the Research and Creative Activities department for 17 years, according to Gary Hooper, associate academic vice-president over research and graduate studies and close colleague of Hardman. She helped many faculty members obtain grants for their research, Hooper said.

Hooper also said,”she was very highly regarded by everyone.”

Gary Reynolds, associate director of the Research and Creative Activities department, is another close associate.

“She is very much missed by everyone who knows her. She was a very kind and helpful person. For example, she was very interested and protective of the faculty,” Reynolds said.

Hardman left the Research and Creative Activities department Dec. 96 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She was in her 60s. The funeral service was at the Sharon Second Ward in Orem.
