BYU guard Jordan Chatman announced he was transferring last week, so Rose will immediately add some much-needed depth for head coach Dave Rose.
Rose is listed at 6-foot-3 and 200 lbs. Injuries have held him back throughout most of his playing career, but he was a 40-percent shooter when healthy.
Rose played nearly 35 minutes per game and averaged 9.8 points per game as a junior for Houston.
Rose played in two games last season as he nursed a nagging foot injury. He will join a BYU backcourt that includes Nick Emery, Elijah Bryant, TJ Haws and Steven Beo.
