This is a developing story

Jared Tod Workman, a business strategy major at BYU, received a serious head injury after being kicked by a horse on Saturday, April 25, and is now in a coma at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

The accident occurred at a farm where Workman’s brother works. Workman was riding a horse bareback when the horse bucked, tossing him to the ground. While he was down, another horse kicked him in the head as it ran away.

Workman was supposed to marry his fiancée, fellow BYU student Audrey Buckley, on May 1. The two have been dating since 2010, and Workman waited for Buckley during her mission to the Philippines. He proposed to her the weekend she returned home. After the wedding, Workman intended to intern for Price Waterhouse Cooper in Dallas, Texas.

Workman currently has no health insurance. He had cancelled his single student health insurance while planning on transitioning to married health insurance. He was injured in between that time. His family is accepting donations at the Jared Workman Fund.
