Planning a memorable date doesn’t have to be a costly experience. Utah County offers many affordable dates that fit any budget without eliminating the fun factor.

For some, dancing in any form may seem like a daunting experience. However, every Wednesday and Friday night, Utah Country Dance offers a solution — and the perfect date. Starting at 9 p.m., free lessons in country swing are available for 30 minutes. After that, anyone is invited to stay and show off their new (or polished) skills.

The Center is your number one source for dancing in Provo.

Jared Moore, the owner of Utah Country Dance, said this is the perfect date and promises it to be a fun, and easy, experience.

“It’s cheaper than a movie and it gets you to do a lot more talking with your date,” Moore said. “Even if you don’t have a date, it’s a good place to find one!”

Moore started Utah Country Dance about nine years ago. He said he met his wife there, which proves it must be a great place for a date. Utah Country Dance is located at 222 W. 500 North in Provo. The cost is $4 before 9:30, which includes the free instruction, or $6 after 9:30 for those wanting to get straight to dancing.

For those that enjoy nature, Clas Ropes Course located in southwest Provo offers an affordable experience in the great outdoors. They offer an array of activities, including seasonal river cruises and ropes courses. One of the most popular activities is canoeing. For $13, a person can rent a canoe for two hours and enjoy a leisurely ride down the Provo River. The canoe, paddles and life jackets are provided. There are several places along the river to pull off, so this date could be completed with a romantic picnic lunch for two.

Clas Ropes Course is located at 3606 W. Center Street and is open during daylight hours. As long as weather permits, it is open year-round and group rates are available.

Riding bikes is a popular activity for people of all ages and a local business makes this old past-time into a perfect date. Pacific Tandems rents out  bright yellow bikes made for two and the bikes can be used anywhere. Provo has plenty of outdoor bike trails, such as the Provo River trail. Provodateideas.com, a website that provides hundreds of date ideas in Provo, said tandem biking might be better than just riding regular bikes.

“You are constantly right next to your date and so communication is much easier,” the website said.

Pacific Tandems is located at 714 N. University Ave., making it close enough to campus that even those without a car can get there easily. It cost $7 for an hour, or $25 dollars for a day. Reservations can be made at their website, Pacifictandems.com.

These are only a few of the many affordable dates available in the area. All it takes is a little creativity to make a night memorable in that special someone’s eyes.
