Letter to the editor: Lighten up

    29

    Dear editor:

Aren’t we all taking ourselves a little too seriously? Whether it’s that the school made a mistake by scheduling the football game during Relief Society, or that you don’t like the way the football uniforms look, or somebody was sitting in your seat at the stadium and it ruined your weekend, or fellow students don’t follow the Honor Code by showing a full square inch of their midriff when they jump up to grab a leaf off of a tree, or your roommate uses your soap, or even while waiting at a traffic light somebody honked at you a full second after the light turned green while you gazed into the eyes of that special someone sitting across from you while listening to that romantic band 98 Degrees, and because of this your testimony of Christianity is shot.

Again I ask, aren’t we taking ourselves too seriously? Look at where we are. We are in the midst of God’s creations. We have spectacular mountains surrounding us, freedom to worship how we desire, one of our churches on every corner, members of this same church at every beckon call, and absolutely every single thing we could ever ask for to progress in the eternities.

So what if we’re not perfect? Take a step back and smile at how absolutely wonderful life really is. If you’re lucky, you might even giggle.
