The votes are in, the incumbents for two of the three Utah County Commission seats will continue to serve in seats A and B for another four years.
The commissioner for seat A — Jerry Grover said he was happy about the election results.
Grover said he will continue to concentrate on keeping property taxes low and helping the county handle growth.
Grover’s stand on growth and how to deal with it was one of the main concerns he focused on during his campaign. However, he said reducing the county debt was his top priority. He said he will do this by paying off bonds for the county jail, administration building, the David O. McKay Events Center at Utah Valley State College and The Peaks Ice Arena.
Grover said he hopes to continue his current work on expanding inmate work programs at the county jail. He said he wants to keep working with the drug court, a system the commission instituted by the commission to track former drug offenders and help to rehabilitate them.
Voters responded favorably to these issues and showed their support by reelecting Grover to seat A.
The incumbent in seat B, David Gardner also won his seat back in the election.
“I feel I’ve got good support up and down the valley,” Gardner said.
Gardner said he was committed to staying in touch with the people of Utah County. He said during his campaign and throughout his term he has visited citizens of the county in their homes and businesses to find out if they are pleased with county services and what they think the commissioners are doing well and what they need to do better.
“You can’t represent people you don’t know,” Gardner said.
Both of the commissioners are graduates of BYU and have pledged their support to the university and the students of BYU.
Gardner said he hopes BYU students are satisfied with his work, and he is committed to continuing to satisfying the people of BYU and Utah County in general.
