The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office issued a flood watch to Panguitch and other nearby areas on Tuesday, April 9, because of visible dam cracking and potential dam failure. This escalated the dam to a Level 2 Emergency Situation. Building a buttress and a drop in water levels were good news for Panguitch, and the evacuation notice was lifted on April 12.
