Dixie State University is now Utah Tech University.
The university faced criticism for their name due to the relationship between the word Dixie and slavery. In response, the university started the process of finding a new title for the school. The Utah State Legislature passed the bill on the name change and Gov. Spencer Cox is expected to sign the bill soon.
The university believes this name will better represent the education students receive at their institution.
