SANTA ROSA, ECUADOR — A global pandemic doesn’t have to make life boring. For example, the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers began in South America on Thursday and many of the homebound can enjoy watching some exciting matches from the first round of the competition.

Brazil trashed Bolivia 5-0 at the arena Corinthians in the last game of the week, while Colombia took a 3-0 win to Venezuela.

South America national teams are showing convincing performances with their wins.

Argentina, with Lionel Messi as their biggest star and captain, clinched a 1-0 win over Ecuador at La Bombonera Stadium to start their South America World Cup 2022. The Argentinian team is a favorite for South America and climbed to the top of the standings after the opening game.

Uruguay shares the lead with Argentina after beating Chile 2-1 in an exciting game at the Estadio Centenatio, in Montevideo.

As the first games ended, the second rounds are coming, and soccer fans couldn’t be more excited to see their team win. Hopefully fans can find some hope in these difficult times. The World Cup 2022 is almost here and the excitement is real.
