Deep freeze envelops Midwest, even stops the mail

U.S. Postal services shut down due to extreme weather in the Midwest. Governors of various Midwest states declared emergencies after recording below freezing temperatures Wednesday. As businesses and schools close their doors, communities work to provide shelter and warmth for the most vulnerable, such as the homeless and elderly.

Fans, friends and family will gather together Wednesday to celebrate the life of Stan Lee, who died in November. The celebration will discuss Lee’s life and accomplishments and commence with a private gathering inside the TCL Chinese Theater.

Survey: Businesses added a strong 213,000 jobs in January

Despite the effects of the government shutdown, U.S. businesses added 213,000 jobs in January, according to a survey conducted by payroll processor ADP. The government will announce its official monthly job numbers on Friday, job growth is expected to be slower this year than in 2018, according to economic forecasts.
