AP source: Cowboys’ Jason Witten retiring, heading to ESPN
Jason Witten, tight end for the Dallas Cowboys, is retiring from football and heading to ESPN to join “Monday Night Football” as the lead analyst. The Cowboys never anticipated that Witten’s 15th season would be his last, though Witten is the longest-tenured player of the Dallas Cowboys franchise and second longest-tenured player behind Tom Brady in NFL history.
Domestic violence call led to standoff, deadly explosion
A barn explosion left one person dead and nine officers injured after police responded to a domestic violence call from a woman in North Haven, Conn. When police arrived at the scene, they tried for hours to coax the husband outside of the building when the explosion occurred. The nine officers are being treated for non life-threatening injuries, whereas the identity of the deceased body has not yet been confirmed.
The Latest: Shooting suspect’s brother arrested for 2nd time
The brother of Florida high school shooter Nikolas Cruz, Zachary Cruz, was stopped and arrested last week for driving without a license. He was within 25 feet of a Lake Worth high school. Zachary Cruz is on six months’ probation after his first offense for trespassing at the Parkland high school. He was ordered to stay at least a mile away from schools unless enrolled.
Camille Cosby, wife of Bill Cosby, is trending on Twitter. She has called for a criminal investigation into prosecutor Kevin R. Steele for her husband’s sexual assault conviction. She defends Bill Cosby, saying the case was “mob justice, not real justice.”
