BYU women’s basketball: senior Ashley Garfield tears ACL.

BYU women’s basketball senior guard Ashley Garfield revealed Tuesday that she tore her ACL. Garfield broke the news on Twitter.

Garfield injured her knee in the Cougars’ 71-63 win over Loyola Marymount on Jan. 8. She collided with an LMU player with two minutes left in the first half, and would not return.

The Cougars’ senior guard averaged 6 points per game and was second on the team in rebounds with 7.5 per game.

“She’s kind of like the director in a movie where she does all the work that nobody sees but that person on the screen,” head coach Jeff Judkins said. “She’s been a dream to coach. A coach doesn’t get a player like Ashley very often where they work hard and they do whatever you ask them to do.”
