Amanda Knox, who was accused of murdering her roommate  Meredith Kercher, in Italy in 2007, will be freed tonight after serving four years in jail. Her boyfriend, Raffaelle Sollecito, who was also originally found guilty, has been cleared of the murder charges.

Reuters reported that independent forensic investigators claimed police scientific evidence was unreliable. Knox had been sentenced to serve 25 years in jail and her boyfriend received a 25-year sentence.

According to CNN, the jury deliberated for nearly 10 hours before coming to the conclusion she would be cleared of murder.

A video of the Judge delivering the verdict was posted by BBC, announcing her acquittal.

Knox broke into tears after hearing the verdict.
