General Conference (Saturday morning): President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf told members to remember they are loved.

“It fills me with wonder and awe to think that the worth of souls is great in the eyes of God,” he said.

President Uchtdorf said although we may seem small, we are greater than we suppose.

“This is a paradox of man: compared to God, man is nothing; yet we are everything to God,” he said.

President Uchtdorf said Satan can use this paradox to lead away the hearts of man.

“To some, he appeals to their prideful tendencies, puffing them up and encouraging them to believe in the fantasy of their own self-importance and invincibility,” he said.

Besides appealing to pride, President Uchtdorf said Satan also deceives through discouragement. He told of a story when he attended pilot training in the U.S. Air Force. Being young, far away from home and dealing with a language barrier, he felt anxious about competing for top spots in the program.

“Even so, I never once wondered if the Lord had forgotten me or if he would ever be able to find me there,” he said.

President Uchtdorf said the Lord never forgets his children — he knows where they are no matter how humble their circumstances.

“God knows that some of the greatest souls who have ever lived are those who will never appear in the chronicles of history,” he said. “They are the blessed, humble souls who emulate the Savior’s example and spend the days of their lives doing good.”

President Uchtdorf concluded his talk by asking members of the Church to remember these truths.

“Brothers and sisters, it may be true that man is nothing in comparison to the greatness of the universe,” he said. “At times we may even feel insignificant, invisible, alone or forgotten. But always remember — you matter to Him!”
