If you’ve ever seen people paragliding at Point of the Mountain and wondered how fun it would be to join them, it’s time to stop wondering. Now, more than ever, is the perfect time to take to the skies.

Cloud 9, the company responsible for Point of the Mountain paragliding, recently partnered with PlanetGear.com to offer deep discounts for those who would like to give paragliding a try. PlanetGear.com is a members-only website that offers its members outdoor gear, apparel and travel destinations for up to 70 percent off the normal price. Membership on the website is free.

Veronique Markewitz, founder of PlanetGear.com, said she was excited to bring Cloud 9 on board

with this promotional offer.

“We enjoy working nationwide with companies, but we also like to bring on local businesses,” Markewitz said. “Cloud 9 certainly fit that category. Our members get excited when we offer adventurous activities that are also safe. I mean come on, we all love to fly, right?”

Paragliding with Cloud 9 can cost more than $120, but through Tuesday, PlanetGear.com is offering a tandem paragliding flight to its members for only $59. PlanetGear.com sets itself apart from other websites by donating 1 percent of each sale to a local non-profit organization through their 1 perfect for the Planet foundation. Promoting adventure and a healthy lifestyle rather than simply selling products, PlanetGear.com claims to offer more than your typical e-commerce store.

“We’ve been getting great feedback on this, and we obviously want to get as many people on board as possible,” Markewitz said. “We are excited to bring this to the locals … and give people a chance to do something fun in the summer here.”

Tandem paragliding flights are large enough for two people — the instructor and passenger. Both people are safely secured to their paraglider with harnesses, and although the instructor does the majority of the flight controlling, passengers have an opportunity to take over and experience maneuvering the aircraft.

People wanting to take advantage of this deal had better act fast. Tawnee Madlen, marketing and public relations specialist for PlanetGear.com, gave a reminder the deal only lasts until Tuesday. Those looking for something fun to do in the summer — as well as something different — will want to become involved.

“It’s time for an adventure beyond your local water park,” Madlen said.

Cloud 9 Toys is located off Exit 291 in Draper, after going east to the first stop light and turning right onto Minuteman Drive. You can also check out PlanetGear.com to register as a member for free and take advantage of this offer, as well as similar offers.

“We absolutely would like to work with [Cloud 9] again,” Markewitz said. “We’re new to the scene, but with every vendor we bring on, we want to build relationships to get better and better results for people as time goes on.”
