Thursday, July 7

  • Children ages 5 to 11 are invited to the Mornings @ the Museum summer program at the Museum of Peoples and Cultures. Mornings @ the Museum is a free, hour-long program and will take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. through Aug. 4. Accompanied by their parents, children will have the chance to explore and learn about new cultures. Each session includes a cultural presentation and a hands-on activity children will get to take home. The themes for 2011 are “Archaeology of Utah Valley,” “The Art of Maya Textiles” and “Ancient Greece.” The event is free, but space is limited and reservations are required for attendance. Reservations can be made by calling the MPC’s Education Office at 801-422-0022.
  • Library Services Fair: The Harold B. Lee Library will host its first services fair, in the library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair will showcase myriad services the library offers, including teaching how to convert VHS tapes to DVDs. Various library services will have booths on the third floor displaying their services.

Friday, July 8

  • The BYU School of Social Work will hold an information session about BYU’s Master of Social Work Program from noon to 1 p.m. in 2198 JSFB. The information session will present detailed information about applying to the BYU MSW program, answer questions and share tips on how best to prepare for a successful application.   • Outdoor movie: Pixar’s “Up” will be shown in the SWKT quad. Games and ice cream will be provided. Games will start at 8 p.m. and the movie will begin at dusk. For more information, visit events.byu.edu.

Monday, July 11

  • Families from the community are invited to the Museum of Peoples and Cultures for its annual event, “Passports: A Cultural Discovery Day.” “Passports” is an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is free, and refreshments will be provided.
