Even bookstores have birthdays.
The BYU Bookstore turns 100 this week. In celebration, the Bookstore will throw a week-long party for students and faculty.
As a theme, the Bookstore will emphasize the fact that they have been around since 1906. The Bookstore will be selling Hershey candy bars for 5-cents. Different books will also be sold for $19.06. This week, video iPods and iPod nanos will be $19.06 off.
Giveaways will also come standard this week.
Gift card give-aways will be conducted at the different registers at the Bookstore. On Friday, Oct 15, 2006, a MacBook laptop and five iPod Nanos will be given away.
Popcorn, soda and birthday cake will be handed out throughout the week.
On Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, the Bookstore will give away 100 birthday presents to students.
The Bookstore is hosting a barbeque on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2006, in Brigham''s Square.
'The whole week will be a lot of fun,' said Jamie Bond, an advertising student from Heber who is helping to plan the activities. 'The Bookstore is giving something to the students because the students are the ones who have helped the Bookstore. It should be a really fun week for the students.'
Event organizers hope students and faculty will participate in the week of activities. They expect the free barbeque to be a hit among students.
