Just as BYUSA?s elections have concluded, nominees for another organization are gearing up for a weeklong selection process.

The Student Alumni Association is looking for the six individuals who will lead the association next year.

The officers take care of financial results and accountability for activities and assignments given to them. The five vice president positions include the Student Alumni Relations Council, two activities officers responsible for planning various activities and two Student Alumni International officers.

The positions, one president and five presidents, are opened to any student who has a GPA of 3.0 or higher, full-time student status, and are willing to attend several meetings and events throughout the year.

But Troy Simpson, advisor for Student Alumni Association, said these aren?t the only qualifications.

?The student needs to be passionate about BYU,? he said. ?They need experience and want to share that with alumni, students and faculty.?

Officers are in charge of planning student and alumni activities, budgeting and working with alumni throughout the year.

?These positions provide great networking opportunity,? Simpson said. ?The officers become very close and work hard together.?

Last year?s officers included President Sam Glanzer and Vice Presidents Lauren Bluth, Kimberly Gardner, Sarah Stevenson, Jiyoung Cha and Sergio Martinez.

?Being an officer has set me up for great jobs based on experience in event planning and volunteer experience,? said Lauren Bluth, vice president of SAA. ?It?s a great opportunity to give back to BYU.?

The positions provide work experience, service and a good opportunity for working in a professional environment said Adam Wardel, student director of Alumni Generations.

The president selected receives full tuition paid and the vice presidents receive three-fourths of tuition paid.

The application is available in the Alumni House. It includes a cover page explaining interest in the position, a resume, references and a letter of recommendation. The applicant must also undergo an interview process and presentation before the SAA committees before being selected. The officers are not student elected, like BYUSA officers.

The deadline for applications to be turned is Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Alumni House. For more information, contact the Alumni House.
