Jon Huntsman Jr. was sworn in as governor of Utah on Monday in a ceremony held at noon in Salt Lake City.

?This day is both exciting and humbling,? Huntsman said. ?Humbling because today I assume an office that has been held by so many great leaders who have gone before me.”

While Huntsman plans to make several immediate changes to Utah?s economy, he also promised his term would be a positive reflection of former state leaders. Huntsman?s plans include changes to the state tax system and several economic reforms.

?I will strive to the best of my ability to always remember the lessons and contributions of our former governors,” Huntsman said.

In addition to Huntsman, other state officers, including Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert, were sworn in Monday. Utah Chief Justice Christine M. Durham conducted the ceremony in Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City. The State Capitol building is closed for renovation.
