Below is our opinion on the insert on “The Bubble” in the April 9 edition of The Daily Universe. It’s a shame that there’s a push at BYU to “normalize” returned missionaries. “The Bubble” staff members should spend their time helping people, not dressing them like they just came out of the 70s.

President James E. Faust said, “”Of course returned missionaries are not expected to wear white shirts and ties all of the time. But wearing sloppy clothes and weird hairstyles to supposedly look trendy is not proper for one who holds the divine commission of the priesthood” (The Power of Self-Mastery, Ensign, May 2000). Need more be said? The things we learned on our mission, (yes, even the missionary haircut), are guides for the rest of our lives. That doesn’t mean you always have to part your hair, but you should still look like a representative of the Lord. Enough of looking trendy, returned missionaries should look sharp! Or to quote Elder L. Tom Perry in speaking to returned missionaries, “”I call on you to look the part, to be the part, and to act the part of a servant of our Father in Heaven” (The Returned Missionary, Ensign, Nov. 2001).

To Ryan Morgan (the victim), congrats on having your hair parted. We’re glad you stopped wearing the white shirts, but remember, look sharp. By the way, we, the writers of this, are all married to beautiful women.
