President Thomas S. Monson, First Counselor in the First Presidency, provided members of the church three pieces to complete a treasure map to guide them to eternal happiness.

The promised reward for each of us is not gold, silver, stocks, bonds or an impressive portfolio, he said. He said the master spoke of riches within the grasp of all, even joy unspeakable here, and eternal happiness hereafter.

President Monson instructed members to first learn from the past.

“Each of us has a heritage of those who helped shape our lives. This heritage provides a foundation built of sacrifice and faith,” President Monson said. “Ours is the privilege and responsibility to build on such firm and stable footings.”

Second, President Monson urged members to prepare for the future.

“We live in a changing world,” Monson said. “Technology has altered nearly every aspect of our lives. We must cope with these advances and changes in a world in which our forebears never dreamed.”

Third, President Monson directed members to live in the present.

“There is no tomorrow to remember if we don”t do something today,” he said. “To live most fully today, we must do that which is of the greatest importance.”

President Monson counseled members of the church to not procrastinate those things that matter most.

He said members of the church must lay up for themselves treasures in heaven because “where your heart is, your treasure will be also.”
