Elder F. Melvin Hammond of the First Quorum of the Seventy will speak with prospective missionaries Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the WSC Ballroom.

“This is going to be the best missionary spirit this side of the MTC,” said Lawrence Flake, professor of church history and doctrine at BYU.

Everyone is welcome to come to this fireside, Flake said.

According to the JSB Public affairs department, Elder Hammond was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 4, 1993 and now serves as the Young Men General President.

As a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy, Elder Hammond has served in seven different areas in the United States and Mexico as either a president or counselor.

Before his calling as a General Authority he served as mission president for the Bolivia Cochabamba Mission.

The 230 member BYU Men”s Chorus will sing at the fireside.
