Upstairs but still underground, Greg Harris demonstrates the newest thin-film deposition chamber. A foil-covered vaccum chamber designed to grown thin-film media while allowing measurments at the same time.
“It’s the best vaccum of any chamber we have here,” Harris said.
Students like Harris assist professors and spend a sizeable amound of time underground in the labratory.
Yenny Martinez, a 21-year-old senior from Santa Ana, El Salavador majoring in physics said activity in the lab is nonstop.
“I spend a lot of time down here,” Martinez said. “Some one is doing something every hour of the day.”
