Dear Editor,
This letter is in response to a previously written letter which suggested that students should be allowed to “drive through campus.”
This idea is absurd. Let’s consider the number of students at BYU, about 30,000. If only 1/3 of these people have cars, that is a significant increase in traffic flow in areas where there are lots of pedestrians. We have already seen too many problems/accidents involving pedestrians and drivers.
Why increase the chance for more of these by allowing cars into an area filled with pedestrians?
I suppose, however, that satisfying someone’s lazy desires is far more important than maintaining safe and friendly areas of campus.
