Looking for the best place to live, but don’t want to move across the county? According to one study, there’s no need.
Salt Lake City has been ranked the best place to live in “Places Rated Almanac,” published by Macmillan General Reference and released in October. The book rates 354 metropolitan areas in the United States according to nine factors ranging from cost of living to crime.
The book’s editor, David Savageau, told USA Today, “Easterners may still thing of it only as the capital of Mormonism, as very conservative. But out West, it’s looked at as a coming city.”
Salt Lake City moved up from No. 26 from the 1997 edition.
