If a 20-mile bike ride through the Utah wilderness in the moonlight sounds like a blast to you, then you should join the “Antelope by Night.”

On June 20, Davis County will arrange a night-time bike ride along the Great Salt Lake shore, across the causeway and through the Antelope Island State Park.

Brad Parkin, tourism program manager, said the event originally began to help gain attention for Antelope Island, to raise funds for the nonprofit organization “Friends of Antelope Island” and to create an extraordinary experience for the bikers. Now in its fourth year, the bike ride has had between 600-800 participants.

The park has no light after dark, so the moonlight and the biker’s headlights will be the only source of light during the ride. The bike ride is on the summer solstice every year so there will be a full moon, Parkin said.

Everyone who attends the bike ride is required to wear a helmet and to have headlights on their bike.

Those who wish to participate can register until the night of the event. The fee is $20 for adults and $15 for youth 14 and under. Everybody who signs up gets a free T-shirt.

Registration forms are available at the Layton Hills Mall center court information desk, and in room 221 in the Davis County Courthouse in Farmington. If you have any questions call Davis County Tourism at 451-3286.
