An investigation continued Tuesday in a fatal head-on collision that involved a UTA bus Monday night in Lindon.

Aimee Bons, 24, of Lindon, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 3-year-old son, Kobi Bons, suffered head injuries and is listed in critical condition at Primary Children’s Medical Center.

Kobi was flown to the hospital soon after the accident. According to witnesses on the scene, the Ford Aerostar van, driven by Bons, was heading northbound on State Street and swerved across the road into oncoming traffic and collided with a UTA bus traveling south.

After being extricated from the bus, driver Kent Erickson, 36, of Payson was listed in fair condition Tuesday at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Erickson suffered broken bones and has undergone surgery on both legs, according to a hospital official.

Seven of the 10 passengers on the bus suffered minor injuries and were transported to American Fork Hospital by Pleasant Grove EMS. Diana Neil, a near resident, said she heard a big crash and called 911 right after the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m.
